Overview
Sheet Set Excel Editor helps CAD managers, designers, drafters, and engineering teams manage Sheet Set data more efficiently. The application exports data from an AutoCAD Sheet Set DST file to a structured Excel workbook, allows users to edit properties in Excel, reviews changes and warnings during import, and applies approved updates back into the selected Sheet Set.
The tool is designed to reduce repetitive manual editing in the AutoCAD Sheet Set Manager. Instead of opening each sheet one by one to update custom properties, users can edit multiple sheets at once using familiar spreadsheet tools.
Main Workflow
- Open AutoCAD or an AutoCAD-based vertical product.
- Go to the Add-ins ribbon tab.
- Use Export to select a Sheet Set DST file.
- Save the exported Excel workbook.
- Open the XLSX file in Microsoft Excel.
- Edit Sheet Custom Properties, Sheet Set Custom Properties, or create new custom properties.
- Close Excel.
- Use Import to review detected changes and warnings.
- Confirm the import to apply the approved changes back to the selected DST file.
- The application automatically creates a backup of the original DST file before applying changes.
Ribbon Commands
Export
Exports Sheet Set data from a selected DST file to an Excel workbook. The exported workbook includes structured worksheets for sheet-level custom properties, sheet set custom properties, new custom property creation, sheet information, and technical reference data.
Import
Reviews the selected Excel workbook against the selected DST file, reports detected changes and warnings, asks for confirmation, then imports approved Excel changes back into the selected DST file. Before making changes, the application creates an automatic backup of the original DST file in the same folder.

Settings
Contains import-related settings used by the workbook workflow.
SheetCustom_Matrix
The main worksheet for editing Sheet Custom Properties. Each row represents a sheet, and each custom property is displayed as a column. This format is designed for efficient batch editing.
Visible columns include SheetNumber, ImportMode, and custom property columns. Technical matching columns are hidden to protect the import workflow.
ImportMode supports Update and Ignore. Use Update to apply changes for a sheet. Use Ignore to skip a sheet during import.
SheetSetCustom
Allows editing of existing Sheet Set Custom Properties. Users can update property values and choose whether they should be imported.
NewCustomProperties
Allows users to create new custom properties. The Scope column controls whether the property is created as a Sheet property or a Sheet Set property. ApplyToExistingSheets controls whether a default value is applied to existing sheets.
Sheets
Contains standard sheet information such as number, title, name, description, and publish-related data where applicable.
SheetCustom_LongFormat
A technical worksheet used for diagnostic or fallback purposes. The main import workflow uses SheetCustom_Matrix when available.
Import Review and Safety
The import review should be checked before every import. It reports standard sheet changes, sheet custom property changes, sheet set custom property changes, new custom property applications, and warnings.
The import process asks for confirmation before applying changes. A backup DST file is automatically created before modifications are made. The backup uses a timestamped filename such as:
Project_backup_YYYYMMDD_HHMMSS.dstImportant Notes
- Close Excel before running Import. If the workbook is still open in Excel, Windows may lock the file and prevent the application from reading or updating it.
- Do not delete hidden technical columns from the workbook. They are used to match Excel rows back to Sheet Set objects.
- Review the Import warnings and change counts before confirming that the detected changes match your expectations.
Troubleshooting
The command does not appear in AutoCAD
Confirm that the application bundle was installed for the correct AutoCAD or AutoCAD-based vertical product version. Restart the application after installation. The ribbon panel should appear under Add-ins > Sheet Set Excel Editor.
Excel file cannot be read
Close Excel and try again. The XLSX file may be locked if it is still open.
Import shows warnings
Review the warning messages before continuing. Warnings may indicate missing sheets, changed sheet numbers, or workbook rows that cannot be matched to the selected DST file.
The import did not apply expected changes
Confirm that ImportMode is set to Update for the rows you want to import. Run Import again and verify the detected change counts before confirming.
